There Is Life After Drugs-How Bad Do You Want It?
There Is Life After Drugs – How Bad Do You Want It?
By Pastor Ray W. Houston
Pastor Ray Houston’s journey is a testimony to resilience, restoration, and the power of choosing a different life. After nearly three decades trapped in severe addiction—spending more than half a million dollars in the streets—Ray managed to raise his young daughter with love, stability, and protection. She grew into a successful college graduate who never felt the shadow of the addiction he fought daily.
This book offers more than a life story. It serves as a guide for families and friends trying to understand how addiction shapes the mind and how real transformation begins. Ray opens a window into the thoughts, battles, and breakthroughs of someone fighting to reclaim his life.
From the depths of Skid Row to moments he never imagined—working as a painting contractor in the Federal Building, completing projects for the FBI just after 9/11, and even painting the office suite of then-Senator Barack Obama—Ray’s path defies expectation. The same man once consumed by drugs would later work inside the offices of the Drug Enforcement Administration as a trusted contractor.
Today, Pastor Ray and his wife, Pastor Colleen Bennett-Houston, lead True Believers G.R.O.U.P. Outreach Ministry, a Christian rehabilitation program dedicated to helping individuals break free from addiction and rebuild their lives with purpose.
This book is a message of hope, a reminder that recovery is possible, and a challenge to anyone still struggling—or anyone who loves someone who is—to discover what’s waiting on the other side of determination. There truly is life after drugs. The question is: How bad do you want it?
