Re: Ray Houston

Mr. Houston has been a volunteer in the county jail since September 2009. He has been part of the "Houston Group" which has provided Sunday Worship for the inmates on a rotational schedule each moth.

However, since my tenure at the jail beginning in July of 2013, Mr. Houston has availed himself more for ministry to our inmate population by being added to the Thursday Bible Study rotation. This additional exposure has given way to the men finding out about his book, There is Life After Drugs - How Bad Do You Want It?. It has stirred a great amount of interest and a great many request to read the book. As a result, Mr. Houston was able to use his story to connect with their story; he was able to use his addiction to connect with their addiction. The connections that he has made with the men have given them hope that they, too, can be successful. However, he is also willing to confront those areas in their lives that they are not being realistic or being honest in.

His experience and his wisdome are great asset for ministry. We are grateful that he has opened up his schedule to do spiritual care visits with the men that need his sagacious advice or just need an understanding non-judgmental ear to listen. 

We appreciate his life testimony that there is life after drugs. We also appreciate that he wanted it bad enough to be able to leave. the light on so others could be drawn to it and want it for themselves.
